Nikon CoolPix S80 – OLED Touchscreen And 14.1 MP Camera

nikon+coolpix=s80
The Nikon S80 is one of the coolest cameras on the market at the moment. It has a 16.5 mm body that is just the business in terms of being slim. There is a widescreen functionality which makes viewing so much easier. The 3.5 inch OLED monitor is just one of the great advantages that come with the system.  This gives a visual dimension to the practical benefits of the gadget. It also means that the user is getting the full picture in all senses of the word.
The user can then revel in the vivid photos and the easily functionality that has made it one of the most important things to have from that perspective. The touch panel is just at the top of the advanced scale for usability and the ability to bring certain glamour to proceedings. The stylish design of the Nikon S80 is just one of those things that haunt the user. The stylishness is not an accident but a deliberate attempt to get rid of the geeky images that have sometimes permeated this industry.

Using The Coolpix S80 Effectively
The coolpix S80 is just ripe for the taking for the people that are taking the time to study these gadgets in detail. The electrostatic OLED touch panel is just the business. The wide viewing angle brings a new dimension to everything. The monitor resolution was increased to about 819 k dots. The on cell touch panel is a great addition. The optic zoom lens is thin and right angled for better effects. The pixel could run up to 14.1 pixels. The editing versions can run form the slow to the very fast. There is plenty of control for the use when they are dealing with the coolpix s80. These are some of the advantages that can come out of the purchase of the same:
  1. There are excellent pictures with high resolution. These can then be transferred to the other gadgets that are compatible with the coolpix s80 or have OLED technology. The commercial users of the system will find that it is very effective in the way that it handles the expectations of the clients. It is also the foundation stone for further development in the area.
  2. The coolpix S80 comes with great capacity for connections to other devices. There are various storage mechanism and communication mechanisms that can be used to transfer the files accordingly. That is a major achievement for the designers. In using the coolpix s80 the client will be exposed to the high tech systems that are holding sway at the moment.
  3. There is a wonderful design mentality that goes to the heart of the Nikon brand. The OLED versions aside, the gadget looks absolutely modern and fabulous. It brings with it a portability that is virtually guaranteed to dominate the market from the different perspectives.
  4. Above all the camera is relatively cheap. The best tactic is to go to the manufacturer directly because they will not have the mark up to deal with.

The Strength of the Canon PowerShot S95

Canon-PowerShot-S95-review
Sometimes a gadget comes along and floors the competition with the provisions that it has in place. It will define the future generation of products and will define their level of success. The Canon PowerShot S95 seems to be heading that way with the introductory features and the management of the publicity surrounding the gadget. Some people have described it as cunning while others say that it is just professional in the way that it delivers functionality. The video functionality has not been that great but that is a very small price to pay for a great product that delivers on so many different fronts.  In fact they have remedied the situation with the new 720P HD shooting facility. The serial complainers will have to look elsewhere because this gadget is just rocking.
Efficient functionality at a reasonable price
The Canon PowerShot S95 Price is well within the realms of possibility and even desirability. At the same time the functionality is even better than the pricing model. There is a lens control ring that improves the management of the files. The ISO can be easily adjusted to suit the preferences of the client. It is also possible to work with the speed of the shutter in order to improve the general outlook of the final shots. Users that are interested in focus compensation at any point will find that the gadget is set up to deliver some of the best results. It is not a particularly large camera but that is precisely the portability that is so marketable at this moment in time. There have been reports that the manual control seeps into the back of the gadget but that is a matter of taste and technical skills. It does not go to the heart of the core functionality.
canon-powershot-s95-features
Other features on the camera
The Canon PowerShot S95 Review indicates that there is a lot more that the clients can look forward to. The multi control dial has received rave reviews in some quarters while other people are not too sure about how it works. In any case they seem to have responded to consumer concerns by putting up a stiffer movement on the dial. The semi automatic shutter allows for aperture priority. Some of the professionals might worry that the intelligence of the camera does not give them ample opportunity to display their formidable skills. However this does not take away from the fundamental power of the gadget and the features that it brings to the market. I like the optical image stabilizer because it helps the user to remove some of the shakes that can be very irritating in these modern cameras.
There are also other unique features that might be of interest including the ability to put an f 2.0 aperture on the chassis. There is also a 10 MP CCD sensor that works very well with the DIGIC 4 processing unit. The displays all exude a modern confidence which cannot fail to impress. For the relatively modest price, this is a great purchasing opportunity.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 – Best low cost compact digital camera of 2009

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 – Best low cost compact digital camera of 2009:
digital
Add caption
My job today is to find and put in front of our cost conscious users the best compact digital camera that has a lot to offer for a not-so-premium price tag of around £275/$350. After looking around searching the net and reading reviews, I have come to the conclusion that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 owns this price: performance crown.
Panasonic has mostly been moderate about its products in the recent months but within the silence it has been producing some great products from high-end- quality HD cam-recorders to stunning HD T.V sets.

digi2
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 is a compact camera and comes with 10.1 megapixels, which I know is not massive in the world of 15 or even 20 megapixels cameras but it is up there considering the price and quality it produces which is achieved from a massive 12x zoom, 25mm ultra wide-angle lens. Luckily, it doesn’t have the problems of distorting or softening images like other super high zooms.
This camera can also be seen as a hybrid of a cam-recorder and a normal ‘conventional digital’ camera. It has a built-in feature called AVCHD which is used in some Panasonic and Sony cam-recorders as well and makes the Lumix DMC-TZ7 capable of recording HD audio and video at 720p resolution although it has to be said that, this is the only area where it some-what struggles to perform in ability, focusing, zooming and the capture speed of fast moving objects (into a video) but the end quality doesn’t suffer much.
The camera’s exterior is also of a solid and superior quality to other cameras in the same price range and is very well constructed. It has a superb three-inch high resolution screen which blends in beautifully with the internal features and does justice to the overall product. Other functions and features include an improved face detection and image stabilization system, a mini HDMI port.
Overall this is a very good camera in most of the aspects and will fulfill almost all the needs of an average user/photographer. Prices in the UK start at around £250, making it great value for the money.
Ten Technologies rates the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7, a highly respectable score of 8 out of 10.

Nikon D3100 Preview by Richard Butler, August 2010

based on a pre-production Nikon D3100
Nikon has developed a habit of making very attractive entry-level DSLRs, which are rarely the best specified but cleverly designed so that they're easy and enjoyable to shoot with. The D3000 fitted this pattern perfectly, a gentle refresh of the D60 (which was itself a slightly updated D40X), it added ease-of-use features to make it a pleasant little camera despite a specification that was beginning to look rather out-of-step with the rest of the market.

The D3000 sold well, despite its rather aged 10 megapixel sensor and lack of both live view and video. However, there's only so long that clever product design and feature integration can make up for a specification that looks dated. So with this in mind, Nikon has announced the D3100 - probably the biggest refresh of its entry-level offering since it really attacked the low end market with the original D40.
The D3100 is built around a 14.2 megapixel CMOS sensor (possibly the one seen in Sony's NEX cameras?), bringing not only live view but also Full HD video capture to Nikon's entry-level model. This not only makes it the company's second-highest pixel-count SLR (after the D3X) but also makes it the first to offer 1920x1080 movie recording. It can only record clips up to ten minutes long but it's still an impressive feature addition at this level.
The body gets a slight refresh, gaining an extra button to the left of the screen, a drive mode switch at the base of the mode dial, a sprung lever to engage live view and a direct record movie button. There are also revisions made to the feature-teaching, hand-holding 'Guide Mode' and an additional autofocus mode to allow better focusing in live view and autofocus during video shooting.

Nikon D3100 Key Features

  • 14.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor
  • 3.0" LCD monitor (230,000 dots)
  • Image sensor cleaning (sensor shake)
  • 11 AF points (with 3D tracking)
  • IS0 100-3200 range (12,800 expanded)
  • HD movies (1080, 720p or WVGA)

Nikon D3100 vs D3000: Key Differences

The D3100 substantially refreshes the D3000, taking a rather outdated-looking specification and turning it into one of the most competitive in its sector.
  • Higher resolution sensor (14.2MP vs. 10MP)
  • Ability to shoot Raw + Fine JPEG
  • Socket for connecting Nikon GP1 GPS unit
  • Optional wired remote via GPS socket
  • No wireless remote option
  • Live view
  • 1080 HD movies
  • HDMI output
  • Wider ISO range
  • Full-time AF mode (AF-F in live view)
  • Revised focus screen (different AF point illumination)

Compared to the Nikon D3000 and D5000: major feature and specification differences

As you can see from the table below the D3100's specification not only exceeds that of its predecessor, but also in some respects that of its more expensive bigger brother.

Canon PowerShot SD 4000 IS/IXUS 300 HS Review, by Richard Butler, August 2010

The SD/IXUS range is made up of Canon's 'style-orientated' compact cameras and, as the rest of the market has fragmented into innumerable niches, the range has grown to accommodate an increasing variety of needs. The SD4000 IS tops the current lineup, offering a 3.8x wide-angle zoom and (despite its underlying point-and-shoot disposition) aperture and shutter priority modes. In addition the SD4000 IS is the first of its family to be based around a back-lit CMOS sensor that enables several high speed modes and promises improved low-light performance.

The SD4000 IS's low-key styling belies the fact that it's actually a very well-specified compact camera. In addition to the relative novelty of a back-lit CMOS sensor, it also features a lens that starts at a 28mm equivalent F2.0 - impressive even if it ends up at a rather less noteworthy F5.3 at the 105mm equivalent end of its zoom range. We're curious to see the effect of using a back-side illuminated CMOS sensor in the SD4000 IS, because in our experience the promises made for the low-light capability of these sensors (which gather light from what would be the back of a conventional CMOS design and thus remove all the support circuitry from the light path), are not always obvious compared to some of the most modern CCD designs.
However, the SD4000 IS does capitalize on the CMOS sensor's faster readout compared to CCD, using it to offer 720p HD video, 3.7fps full resolution continuous shooting, 8.4fps reduced resolution images and even 240fps movies which are played back at 30fps to give a slow-motion effect. Being the top of Canon's style compact range, the SD4000 IS also has a selection of extra shooting modes such as fisheye and miniature (mock tilt/shift) modes.

Canon SD4000 IS Key Features

  • 28-105mm equivalent F2.0-5.3 image stabilized lens
  • 10 million pixel 1/2.3" sensor (0.28 cm²)

Importance of Digital Cameras

digital_cameras
The digital camera is a multimedia device used to take photographs, videos, and other operations by the use of an electronic image sensor. Most digital cameras are able to record moving pictures, sounds and still produce the best quality results. Digital cameras have some advantages of doing some operations that film cameras cannot like video recording. This multimedia device is capable of storing thousands of information into a small memory card that can be emptied at any time to free the needed space for other purposes. These multimedia devices are incorporated from many other devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. Some have other special features like cropping pictures and editing the images.
Types of digital cameras
They vary in sizes and capabilities hence attracting different prices. There are compact cameras and bridge digital cameras. Bridge digital cameras are used by astrologers for scientific use and also by the military. They are more expensive and larger in size because they perform heavy and complicated tasks than other multimedia cameras.
Compact cameras are small in size, portable and are commonly used to take snapshots. They are easy to use and have the compatibility of zooming the lenses using data from the live preview. These multimedia cameras are less costly and give good performances.
Bridge cameras have advanced features and require a greater control than the compact cameras. They have large zoom and can take movies with sound and can be viewed by the use of crystal display or electronic viewfinder. They are capable of storing their images in form of jpeg format or raw image or even both. They use an electronic view finder that enables them to take pictures from a distance regardless of their angles or size. They are available in various shops and dealer outlets from different manufactures and can also be bought online at various prices.

It’s a general trend that technology, in its prototype, doesn’t look much presentable. But, with the passage of time, it becomes more compact and sleek. Same is the case with Sony’s new duo of Alpha NEX Cameras, a splendid effort where power meets portability, as they state it themselves. Earlier this summer, Sony unveiled its set of two digital cameras – Alpha NEX-3 and Alpha NEX-5, with its one-of-a-kind interchangeable lens capability. The most striking thing about Alpha NEX is its DSLR-like features, while it looks just like some other digital camera. Sony claims it to be the world’s smallest & lightest camera of its kind (let’s see how long it holds the record!). It can be called as an altered DSLR camera, which is 48% smaller and 49% lighter. Now, it’s time to get into some geeky stuff i.e. features, specs and review.

Both NEX-3 and NEX-5 cameras are almost identical, with a little difference in features, specs and obviously price. Both of them provide 14.2 megapixel resolution, shooting of up to 7 fps, ISO sensitivity: 12,800 (great for low-light shooting), 3-inch LCD screen, Sweep & 3D Panorama capability, HD sensor of APS-C size, BIONZ image processor, HDMI output, and auto HDR. The cameras come either with 16mm or 18-55mm lens, which depends on your choice of purchase (You can get a bundle of both as well!).

As far as the differences are concerned, the main dissimilarity is between the actual size of the cameras. NEX-3 is a little wider, thicker, taller, hence heavier than NEX-5. Other than that, NEX-5 is composed of magnesium alloy from the front, whereas the other one is composed of plastic. The NEX-3 records videos in HD at 720/30p, while NEX-5 shoots 1080i AVCHD videos. The audio format supported by NEX-3 is MPEG-4 AAC-LC, however NEX-5 gives Dolby Digital (AC-3) along with MPEG-4. No matter which lens you like, the difference in price remains $100. NEX-3 is available for $549 with 16mm lens, & $599 with 18-55mm lens. Likewise, you can get NEX-5 for $649 or $699, depending upon the lens of your choice.
Although these cameras lack a built-in flash (maybe to keep it small), but the box includes an attachable Flash, which Sony call detachable. In any case, these cameras certainly take us to a newer level of photography, where you really don’t have to be a professional. But the outstanding results will definitely make you feel like a one. Next time I get my pay, I’m surely going to buy it!

Nikon Coolpix P100 – A Review

Nikon Coolpix P100

There is a new Nikon model in the market – the Nikon Coolpix P100. It’s really quite extraordinary, you have many shooting options which are built around a high-speed CMOS sensor, and a 26x megazoom lens. With this camera, you get photo and video shooting on high speeds, and the opportunity to play around with fun modes, plus you can experiment as much as you want. Add to that the fact that you get 1080p HD-quality movie recording. The Nikon Coolpix P100 has easy-to-operate controls; you just need some time to get used to them by reading the manual. The camera itself costs a fair amount, approximately 400 dollars – quite a large sum of money for many people. It weighs about 17 ounces, is of 10 megapixels, and comes with a 3-inch LCD screen.

So how’s the P100 different from the P90? Well, the zoom has been extended to 26x (so you can see really far ahead of you), and while the P90 had 12-megapixel CCD sensor, this particular model has a backside-illuminated 10-megapixel CMOS sensor. This improves the speed of shooting, and the level of noise in low-light photos is considerably reduced. In fact, you also get the option of a few specialty shooting modes. The feel of this P100 camera is rather good; it’s also a compact model. It’s a good grip, and the camera itself has sensor-shift image stabilization, which Nikon refers to as Optical VR. This stabilization minimizes the level of blur, and if you combine this with Nikon’s Best Shot Selector, you stand a much better chance of a sharp shot of a stationary subject.
The Nikon Coolpix P100 also has a rather good electronic viewfinder, and if you want to frame up your shots, then that too is possible with a vari-angle LCD. This pulls out of the body, and can be tilted up or down, but it doesn’t swing out from the body horizontally. The controls of the camera are responsive and also comfortably placed. You’ll find the Mode Dial, power button, and the shutter release with zoom ring on the top. At the left of the EVF, you’ll find the button for moving from information viewing on the EVF or LCD and a  diopter adjustment dial.
On the right of that is a Display button which allows you to change the information you view on the display, there is also a Movie record button which a switch, that allows you to choose what kind of video you would like to shoot – high speed or regular. There is also a horizontal dial which allows you to change aperture settings and shutter speed; you can also zip through images and videos in playback.

The P100 is a decent buy because you get many shooting options – right from full manual and semi-manual options with shutter speeds from 8 seconds to 1/2000 second, and an aperture range of 10 steps of 1/3 exposure value. You also get many scene modes, as well as auto scene recognition and subject-tracking autofocus meant for moving subjects.

Sony HDR-TG1

Sony HDR-TG1
Gadget blogs everywhere are buzzing about how Sony has created the world's smallest handycam with the HDR-TG1.

This particular model can shoot 1080i video as well as 4 Megapixel stills. It has a 2.7" touch panel LCD display, along with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 10x optical zoom lens. It also has a 2-megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor, as well as face detection technology.

All of this was somehow crammed into a 1.3 x 4.7 x 2.5 inch titanium body that weighs in at only 10 ounces! Of course, tech this small has its price, and this one is at $900 USD.

If so, then a dedicated 4X6" digital photo printer may be the answer, and there are plenty of them from which to choose.

The drawback is that the per print cost is a bit on the high side but even so it's about the same as most "instant" print kiosks but you have the convenience of printing when and where you want.

Here are the latest compact Canon digital photo printers to get you started on your search.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
